WWLA Services

Our Services
We offer the following services in English and Spanish:
- Health education presentations on topics such as diabetes, cholesterol, heart disease,
nutrition, alcohol abuse, dental health, and women’s health.
- Enrollment assistance to eligible workers and family members into subsidized health care
programs.
- Referrals to safety net providers that offer no-cost or low-cost health services
- One-on-one follow up and individual case conferencing to support relationship and trust
building to assist with accessing health care.
WWLA serves as a resource that partners with local health service providers and small
businesses to bring preventative health education to the worksite. Utilizing the worksite is an
untapped venue for reaching this population with important health information and assisting them
to navigate a complicated system.
How Our Services Have Helped Workers
Maria, who had been referred by one of WWLA’s health partners, called us for assistance. Her
10-year-old child required neurological testing because she was having seizures. Maria’s child
had only emergency Medi-Cal that did not cover these specialty services. WWLA was able to
help Maria enroll her child into a low cost health plan that covered these services and is under
treatment.
Ramona, a food-processing worker, started making healthy behavior changes - eating more
fruits and vegetables and walking - after attending our nutrition and physical activity
presentations. She has lost eight pounds, is controlling her blood pressure, and feels much
better.
